FOUNDING CHEF AND CO-OWNER
Dara began her career as a publicist for Time Magazine in New York City. After long days in a crazy office she would return home and cook for her family and friends to soothe her soul (and theirs!) Her hobby turned into a passion and upon encouragement from her then-boyfriend-now-husband, she received a culinary degree at Manhattan's Institute of Culinary Education. After internships in the Saveur Magazine test kitchen, working the line in the East Village's Hearth Restaurant and traveling all over the country to cook and develop recipes for print and television, Dara found her calling, cooking for busy, hungry families who wanted delicious, wholesome meals prepared in their own homes. In 2014, Dara returned to her native Washington, D.C. to raise her own family, and in 2016, Tastes Like More Culinary Services became The Gather Company.
Her clientele has included Eli Manning, Bob Costas, Lorne Michaels, NFL team owners, Wall-Street executives, Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and many wonderful, kind, busy families who have opened their homes, hearts and bellies to her over the years.
When she can't decide what she wants to eat, the answer is always Mexican food or Baskin Robbins' Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream.
CHEF AND CO-OWNER
As the second of seven children in a Filipino-American family, Ryan's love for food and feeding a crowd led her to begin a catering career. She found a niche in combining her artistic creativity with her passion for cooking by specializing in cocktail-style menus, serving perfect one-bite canapés paired with handcrafted cocktails. She has been creating delicious, breathtaking meals for some of the areas most prestigious venues and their clientele for many years.
Ryan’s incredible eye for detail and extremely high standards for customer service has stemmed from a long-time career as a front of the house employee and Event Coordinator. She has been deemed as a “Catering Guru” by past clients and co-workers and working previously by referrals alone, Ryan has become a trusted professional in the events industry.
Today, Ryan is a Personal Chef, Instructor, Caterer and Co-Owner of The Gather Company. She has a weak spot for Mediterranean Cuisine and all things Sur la Table. Her favorite kitchen tool is an impossibly sharp knife, and her drink of choice? Ketel-Soda, no fruit.
